Top 20 Agency Partnership

Over the past two to three decades we have witnessed the old world dying while the new one that has been called the Cyber Age has come into existence.  With the birth and growth of the internet we have access to news and information far beyond anything we ever imagined.

For businesses, it is impossible to operate without the instruments of the Cyber Age: Computer systems, the cloud, social media, etc. With this new age of cyber has evolved a whole new type of crime.  Businesses and individuals alike are exposed every day to cyber crime.  And it seems that the cyber criminals are always a step ahead of the technology to thwart their ability to invade our computer systems.

As individuals, we are all targets of identity theft.  As businesses, we are responsible for protecting and safeguarding private information of our customers and employees.  If we are negligent, resulting in this private information falling into dishonest hands, we will be held responsible.

What if you have done everything you could reasonably do to protect private information?  You can still be victim to any of the following: denial of services attack, virus, phishing, pharming spyware, Trojan horses, etc.  And you can even be held liable for failure to prevent transmission of a malicious code such as a virus from your computer system to a third party's computer system.  Not to mention that if you have a website, you can be held liable for any of the following: defamation, libel, trade libel (all of which are related to the character or reputation of another person or organization); infringement of copyright, domain name, title or slogan; and plagiarism or misappropriation of ideas.  The list goes on and on.

Some of the above terms may be foreign to you, during this series, we will attempt to educate you on the coverages and claims that apply to your business resulting from the cyber world.

Series to be continued...
